Marsupial therapy!!

So, today we began 'Marsupial therapy'(skin on skin...like mother kangaroos and koalas)...This was huge. We came in, and for Christi her first time in three days as she was running a fever, and found her incubator quite barren from many of the instruments used to assist her breathing and feeding. Not only did they stop her c-pap breathing treatment, but also her nutrient tube through her belly button. First thing they asked was who would like to begin Marsupial therapy first...I of course deferred to Christi.

Regrettably between the two cameras we brought, one was missing the memory card, the other ones battery was exhausted. Sorry all. We dimmed the lights, pulled up two reclining chairs, and Eva rested on Christi's chest for over two hours. It was so peaceful and needed. It was hard for us and I would imagine Eva to place her back in her little blanket nest in the incubator. She has made it so far, thank God.

wow. she really is tiny. someday she's going to be huge (i don't mean fat, just like, in comparison to now) and you'll all look at these photos and you are never going to believe it. You'd better take more of them. Sometimes I look at Tim and can't really think he was actually as small as he used to be. And I totally know he was that small because I SAW HIM. So, I don't know what to tell you. Personally I don't think people grow at all probably, I think we just kind of secretly get replaced at night, or something. I don't know who by. But it's the only thing that really makes sense.

Wow! So cool. We loved doing "kangaroo care" as they call it here with both the boys. It's such a special bonding time.

Eva is beautiful and your obvious love for her is too. I'm grateful for your blog and your willingness to include the rest of us in her progress. Thank you for sharing these pictures and this information with us! Having shared a very intense public transportation experience with Mrs. Anderberg in Chicago earlier this year, I sincerely hope the Italian bus and train system is treating all of you well since you are spending so much time on it.
With love,
