Waiting for Anastasia

And that brings us up to the present. It's October 28, 2010, and we're waiting for the newest addition to our family. Anastasia is due to arrive on Christmas day, but, as you all know by now, the likelihood that we'll reach that day is slim. However, we are at a new personal best in pregnancy length: almost 32 weeks! Eva was born just past 27 weeks and Camilla at 28, so this is a major improvement. Our hope was to get a month further with this pregnancy, and we're almost there. Things are still going well, but since there's no way to know when Anastasia will decide to make her appearance, we're grateful for every day further that we have with her in the womb.

Stay tuned for news of her arrival!

Eva's 3rd birthday

Hard to believe how fast this day came! Eva turned three on Sunday, October 24. We celebrated at my parents' house, which is where we've been living for the past month since I've been on strict bed rest.

Lake Michigan

We spent a beautiful weekend in northern Michigan in August. We shared a house with our friends Joe, Rebecca, and Benedict Lussier that was just outside of Traverse City and very near Lake Michigan. The girls loved the water (we discovered this summer that Camilla is a real water baby), and we found several beaches that were perfect for little ones--lots of shallow water with sandy shore.

The family who owned the house had a golf cart. The kids loved riding around the neighborhood in it.

Trip to Newport Beach, CA

Right around Camilla's first birthday, Bill had a 2 week trip to Newport Beach, CA for work. Since Memorial Day was the middle weekend of the trip, Camilla and I flew out to join him for a long weekend while Eva stayed with Noni and Pug. During that weekend, Camilla began standing up by herself--a big accomplishment for her, since she was just 9 months old adjusted.

Rite of Welcoming

Camilla was baptized in the hospital, but when that is done, it is only the bare minimum of the rite: sprinkling with water and the words of baptism. The rest is saved to be celebrated in a church as a way of acknowledging her and welcoming her into the church publicly as part of the family of God. Deacon Dan Foley, the same one who baptized Camilla in the hospital just 3 days after she was born, was the one who celebrated this rite at Christ the King on the Sunday after Christmas. My brother Charlie (home from grad school in Miami) and sister Claire (home from New York City) are her godparents and were there with us.

Look at these chubby cheeks! For comparison, go back and compare the pictures of Camilla at her baptism just a few days after she was born. She's come a LONG way!
